I LOVE the stone on your fireplace. Would you be willing to supply the manufacturer, style, and color of the stone/brick? Also, is the mortar just "natural", or did you use a specialty color.
Sorry, I didn't reply sooner! I didn't realize I had a question. The stone is actually flat brick pavers. They were red when I put them up and I painted them white and then added a brown glaze. You can read about it if you

We've been thinking of doing something very similar - suspending a stone slab over the cooktop in the kitchen and having lights embedded in it. As an architectural firm, have you ever heard of anyone doing this? We're stuck on the actual logistics.
