Most of the wood came from mid-19th-century barns. The oak ceiling timbers came from a Minnesota barn built in the 1860s; the pine boards, from another Minnesota barn built in the 1870s. The flooring came from a Wisconsin barn built in the 1880s. "The joint details were something that our office researched

How do you heat a room with a high ceiling like that? Is there insulation behind the roof timbers?
Yes, there is an insulation system above the timbers seen in this image. The space is heated with a combination radiant heat and forced air system. Thank you for your interest.

Hello, the doors are clad in blackbutt timber.
