Windows: do they have a name?
What would you call the thin windows that run just under the ceiling like that? It's big time 1950s, considering something like that in my house...
Like the gap in the wall making a window
Transom windows, white walls, ceiling beams
Transom windows, particularly on the sides of the house which are close to neighboring houses.
windows that provide light, but don't take up wall space
Transom windows. The next room was a dining area. There was a wall that separated it from the kitchen. The wall had transom windows at the top, which let beautiful light into the kitchen. The low and long windows added to the modern aesthetic.

5. Let the air flowAnd, of course, transom windows don’t just have to let the light through – they can let fresh air in, too. Glass louvres placed above sliding doors maximise light, space and airflow in this modern living area; and depending on the weather they can be closed or opened in conjunction

Extensive clerestory windows turn the home into a wonderful and warm lantern in the evening while ensuring that no artificial lighting is needed throughout the entire day. While there's a lot of glass in this home, it's strategically placed to get the maximum benefit with the minimum cost and energy loss
