Hi, sorry we didn't answer this question earlier. But the wood in the middle is rough cedar. It was whitewashed and then sanded back down and stained a bit more

Brick wall wood slat ceiling and beams on ceiling although wood prefer wood color beams
painted brick, but would leave exposed beams a dark wood color
like the white wood slat ceiling (ours would be flat, obviously). No idea
