beams coming out of the roofline, and wood or better yet wood-looking (they are almost indistinguishable) ceramic tiling for soffits, vs. real wood, which eventually rots or wears away. The ceramic tile would never do so, and really does look exactly like wood......but real wood timbers though!

I like the charm. I would add the garage to the first floor and put a rooftop patio on top, instead of the ceramic shingles. Pull some modern element into the architecture
