similar in my home along with wrought iron railings. I currently have carpeted stairs and white wood railings. I love spanish or hacienda-style decor. Although my house is supposed to be spanish-style, It doesn't seem to reflect it as much as I would like. Slowly, I hope to achieve that style inside and

My only concern with wood is because we have 8 small grandchildren. Kids "will" take a tumble and especially with 3 of them being under 2. But I agree the wood is so much sharper looking. I just hate the sea of carpet that I will be looking at when I put carpet on stairs that range from 5 feet
