work, is it 'just because it was once a MCM home,.....? Why not just build from scratch? You may not need to use a budget, but it seems more time, work, money to do something like this... Is it the 'bones'? I ask because I want a MCM. But I will need a small home. And on a budget.... Cheers!

I'm building raised beds in my yard. What are some unique and cool material ideas and suggestions?
take some time to put together. You can build concrete planter boxes and make different sizes and shapes. The blocks come in a lot of different colors, too and they are easy to move around. There are instructions and a video here: http://info.basalite.com/build-your-own-stone-planter-box
com/photos/123753/Labyrinth-and-Landscape-contemporary-landscape-other-metros And of course, there is always stone, concrete, stucco, and other hard building materials. Your planters can almost double as seat walls or be incorporated into a hillside retaining wall. http://www.houzz.com/photos/33583/St

the desk in the kitchen though. Again one of those aspects that I never really got and it just seems like wasted space to me. (I also work from home in a home office, so I'd be putting that office stuff in the office).
I like most of the design except the easy changes: the chairs and the colors. The layout is wonderful.
