What would you call the architectural style of this house?
I have been a huge fan of houses like this--sustainably built, large windows, lots of wood and metal features, very open and functional. But outside of "PNW home" I never have any idea what to search for or how to research it...
Renovation. The original architect was not either Keck and Keck or Edward Dart. Both of those firms practiced primarily in the Chicago area. This house is located about 25 miles north of Seattle, and it was originally designed by a local architect in the 1950's.

My future house (half)
In the back the house is more open, orienting itself towards a pool, a standard element in many L.A. houses.

Palo Alto | Eichler Kithchen & Bath Remodel
I just bought a house with this roofline in Sacramento, CA, where it gets hot. The attached garage and covered patio are consideed to be flat. The main house has comp. shingles and the garage and patio have rolled roofing. A prior owner/s
and then commercial drop ceilings, which conceal added HVAC ducts and frolled iberglass batting. I have been in a neighbors' house with just the celotex panels and their house is much hotter. I would love to removed all of this and expose the original ceilings and keep my cool. How?
We had a Cliff May house in Long Beach. What we did was to create an air gap on the roof. You cover the roof with plywood, add I think it was 1x2's on edge and put insulation with foil on one side in the gap. Add another layer of plywood and then

Notice open grid (ladder-lke) on left side of gable. Could this be used to extend the hip roof at end of our house for interest?

bath is on the right. The existing house had the same footprint, but all the spaces were stripped down to the studs, the floor plan was re-worked, the exterior siding and windows are all new, the interior finishes are all new, and so on. So, it was became a new house in the end.
The roof was the only part of the house that we did not touch. It had a built-in gutter detail.
Windows and private. Reminds me of Brody's parents house in Lorena
I like this house,..especially since it's a Reno of a 50's house
3rd perfect house for me but this one is more modern
The master suite continues the feeling of transparency between the house and the woods.

The House is an H-shape. Typically houses of this time period would have small rooms with long narrow hallways. However in this case with the walls burned out one can see from one side of the house to other creating a huge feeling space. It was decided to totally open the East side of the house and make

When Ian first introduced CSPA studio to the project it was burned down house. Turns out that the house is a 1960 midcentury modern sister of
tenant. Once inside the burned walls it was quite clear what a wonderful house it once was. Great care was taken to try and restore the house to a similar splendor. The reality is the remodel didn’t involve much of the original house, by the time the fire damage was remediated there wasn’t much left. The
