Does anyone recognize type wood used in island?
I have these exact bar stools (seat height 30") and I'm building a new house and would like to create an island like this with sink placed as in the photo. How high does this countertop need to be to accommodate the height of the stools
stools and still be OK for working at the kitchen sink and kitchen countertop?
Its not my project, but im almost 100% sure the countertop and backsplash are carrera marble and the island is walnut veneer.
We like our islands to be standard countertop height - so that all worksurfaces are at the same elevation

island. The clients felt very strongly about having no seams in the countertop so we went with an extra large slab that is roughly 5'x10'. The overall dimensions is right around the slab size.
Thanks for the question. The countertop is a quartz composite from Pental Quartz, the color is Mesa.
New quartz countertops respect the midcentury aesthetic but hold up better than the plastic laminates common in midcentury homes. “We think the style should fit the house, but not that you have to have everything vintage or original,” he says.

What type of wood are the cabinets (the lowers) and what brand?
painted with a special type of paint on the backside. You can do this in any color. Lower cabinets can be a natural wood such as you see in the picture. It would be good to get some of the wood grain in the cabinet to pick up the chocolate in the floor. Hard to answer the backsplash color...if you feel it
best to have your flooring person do some samples of dark floor colors to see which color / shade works best with what you have. I prefer not to have wood floors be the same color as the cabinets. Samples are crucial.
