Where did you purchase the island silver post? thanks
How did the post affect the cabinets below?
The silver post was not a purchased item, it was a custom fabricated stainless steel cover that we put over an existing structural post that couldn't be moved.
The post was existing structural we had to work around. The stainless steel shroud was added later. The cabinets were laid out below to allow it to pass through
Post in island - metal clad
Interesting use of stainless steel on the support post
post in case wall is load bearing
Dahlin opened up the kitchen; the area where the range is had been a small mudroom. The steel-wrapped post is structural. The beams are original, and painting them to look like wood was much easier than stripping and staining them.Modern-day Plyboo bamboo used in the kitchen complements the other woods

Like how post relates to driveway edging, and color palette
precedents were eschewed in favor of minimalism and efficiency, akin to International style. Eichler employed several architectural firms to design wood post and beam structures that allowed the placement of large expanses of floor-to-ceiling windows, open floor plans and seamless relationships with the outdoors
in contemporary styles, this house shows the common very low-sloped gable version. Note the mixture of materials: vertical groove wood siding, wood posts and beams, linear expanses of glass and concrete block walls (stacked), assimilated in a Mondrian-like composition.

AFTER: By removing the wood post and adding a room-spanning steel girder on the ceiling, Jay was able to drastically open up and reconfigure the kitchen space. The wooden post would have been right on top of where this table now sits. The entertainment producer’s father made the table and chairs by hand
