Nothing quite so innovative, I'm afraid: the house itself is conventional wood frame, and the trellis is steel tube (painted) and ipe wood slats - all field built. This picture shows one wing of an L-shaped plan that orients to the rear yard. Thanks for asking
asking. It's actually a custom-fabricated assembly: painted structural steel (square tube columns with small I-beams and a channel fascia) with custom wood slats/palettes made of ipe.

Love the floors. Can you tell me species of wood, finish, dimensions?
I am refreshing my prairie home and am considering adding up to 12 inch baseboards when we place wide plank natural oak wood floors. I like the look of really deep baseboard from the old farmhouses and the durability and washability they provide. Door frames currently have
roof is scissored cathedral, it will raise the sight lines up. Considering pine or fir plywood to get height and thickness and sealing the end with wood wafer. I could also get 12 foot lengths and have the boards ripped into four even sections. Base would be shoed.. Anyone else tried this?

How are the wood boxes attached to the steel structure.
We are installing similar stairs. The wood boxes were glued to the metal treads, but now the wood is splitting and joints are separating. Can it be caused by temperature differences between the wood and metal, or moisture trapped
