The other side of the house, oriented to the north, is more solid. Dark-stained cedar wood siding in a vertical tongue and groove configuration predominates, bookending the full-height glazing in the master bedroom’s exercise area (foreground) and the guest bedroom

Did installing/cutting the openings in for the soffit down lights prove difficult due to the wood hardness? Thanks in advance. Beautiful home BTW!
what kind of wood was used for the ceilings?
I dont know any specific resource I would use since the best detailing depends on many different factors. Your builder or architect should be able to advise, but its important to make sure that the wood inside and out reamains stable
While ipe is more difficult than softer woods the right saw makes cutting openings doable. I don't know what tools the contractor used. Risinger Homes was the builder.

What wood you using for siding
Love this look! Is there a finish on the wood? What brand if you don't mind? Thanks
is is ok to leave wood untreated? thought it would deteriorate
Hi. Western Red Cedar is a wood that is naturally resistant to moisture, insects and rot. Left untreated it weathers to silver grey and can last for 50 years. In this house, the cedar is installed on a rainscreen system that does not let moisture gather behind the wood. Thanks for your interest!
