of western Puget Sound. The house creates a simple glazed living space that opens up to become a front porch to the beautiful Hood Canal. The east-facing house is sited along a high bank, with a wonderful view of the water. The main living volume is completely glazed, with 12-ft. high glass walls
to a slightly raised wood deck, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor space. During the warm summer months, the living area feels like a large, open porch. Anchoring the north end of the living space is a two-story building volume containing several bedrooms and separate his/her office spaces. The interior

The house has a number of sustainable or “green” building features, including 2x8 construction (40% greater insulation value); generous glass areas to provide natural lighting and ventilation; large

people live that's why I like it because if I were to live by the woods I would most likely paint it like this room
Like the green artwork and bedspread
love the windows for the main bedroom. dont like the shed roof or clerstories
I love the green cotton quilt
Appeal of basic box, lifted, open shed roof living space, "separate" sleeping spaces. It seems to have a reference to a cluster of cains in the woods. Maybe that's not really happening here, but
We like the 2 separate roofs of this home, with no peak.

Roofline pitch in the rear lifts above roof pitch in the foreground... very clever angles
Durable corrugated steel with a baked-on color finish clads most of the external walls and roof. The soaring eaves offer protection from the harsh Australian sun. Raised timber beds hold an extensive vegetable garden.

Is the roof polycarbonate? Are they individual panles or one large one?
Hi, I am in Kirkland and interested in the roof structure. Is the polycarbonate a single piece? Where do you get this material?

the extra weight. The transparent roof adds a lot of characters to the design and I love it.
The plexiglass actually becomes quite brittle and when leaves sit on it that promotes green mold which no amount of spray will remove. I am thinking of installing a metal roof with a sky light instead.
I would like the roof in a work area like this or a bedroom
looking toward the master bedroom (note the opened wall between the courtyard and bedroom) from the entrance and living room.
Carmel Residence, California, Dirk Denison ArchitectsA glass roof covers the external room. The sky is visible overhead while the open finned walls allow gentle breezes inside
Most of the 2,600-square-foot residence is on the first floor. The spaces overlook a courtyard covered with a glass roof and open on the side (right) through deep-set fins of mahogany and steel. These vertical pieces allow for light, breezes and views when seen from the front, but when viewed at an angle
