Ornamental grasses. This is a more unexpected pairing, but one that really works. The smaller leaves of roses and the pop of their color are striking against the softer, more free-form appearance of ornamental grasses
grasses. Try some larger grasses, like this maiden grass (Miscanthus sinensis, zones 5 to 9) or switchgrass (Panicum virgatum, zones 5 to 9), or smaller ones, like Mexican feathergrass (Stipa tenuissima, zones 7 to 10), blue fescue (Festuca glauca, zones 4 to 11) and sedges (Carex spp, zones 4 to 9). Note:
Mix of height, shapes ,etc. although I don't like these big ornament grasses. I like the smaller ones.
I'm a sucker for a well-placed piece of artwork or sculpture in a garden setting. This classical bowl on a substantial pedestal has the correct proportion within the space. It rests informally on the green carpet of turf and relates nicely (at about half the height) to the border of ornamental grasses

WOOHOO! I love this pool. Doing a teardown/new construction in South Austin. One day, we're going to need to chat.
I had nothing to do with this house or pool, but that concrete look is achieved by stacking pieces of wood and using them as the form to pour the concrete. Once the forms are removed
Raised concrete pool where it seems the effect of that concrete look is achieved by stacking pieces of wood and using them as the form to pour the concrete. Once the forms are removed, the wood grain appearance remains.
