snow on the roof. If you are building in an area that has 10-ft. of snow, I would be a bit nervous about a north-facing roof. By the way, make sure you over-insulate the roof (R-50 or more) and have a 2" air space above the insulation so that the interior heat does not reach your roof surface.

Would you know of a good source of library/loft ladders, or is this custom? Thanks!
How high the ceilings need to be in order to do this loft room?
Where did the bed frames come from?
You could probably do any height but providing a good head space. I am absolutely loving this room but I can't have my roof that high. I also noticed this roof is on a slant at the top. Go to the other photos in this project and there is a better view of the whole room.
Thank you for your interest in our project. The loft above the bed is actually just a kids play area. Hope that helps!

I believe the idea behind the bucket was to make it easy to transfer items up and down the loft instead of having to carry them while trying to climb. Hope that helps. rooftop deck and code compliant staircase were outside the scope and budget of the project, a roof access hatch and hidden staircase were included. The hidden staircase is actually a bookcase, but the view from the roof top was too good to pass up! Vista Estate Imaging
Thanks for your reply.. Planning for a loft staircase. Have an area 75" wide and bottom of loft 75" so 15" tall and 15" deep but worried height is difficult to use.
the framed photo is, it would be great. Love the stairs but would be better with hidden compartments. Stairs approximately 16" deep and 11" tall.
Trappe en deur vir 'n loft!!
surprisingly, storage under stairs tends to be common in small spaces, many of them urban lofts like the preceding example. This stair is technically a bookcase, since it’s not code compliant and the opening to the roof access where the person is heading is too low — watch your head!

the house and the loft? And maybe the height?
Hi! You mentioned that the width of the house is 21 feet. I assume that the height of the walls is about 10 feet. Plus another 10 feet to the top of the roof making it about the same 21 feet from the floor to the highest point of the roof. Am I right? But
What is up in the loft area? Is this just a one bedroom?
But how far does the loft extend from the narrower wall? Thanks
There is a loft area as well as a bedroom.
So simple. A roof and 4 walls! The vaulted ceiling doesn't even have gables. It's just wide open. Loft over each end and it's home. (Well I guess there has to be a bathroom or two hidden away somewhere but...)
