Not a question but a comment. It's beyond cool, practical, efficient, we have closet that is underneath the stairs going upstairs. The closet door is opposite the steps, the closet door is a full door height and width. Inside the ceiling tapers down as you walk in towards the back
next to a hallway and has a full wall like this one. I'm wondering if I can do this and would it be harder or easier considering the open space of the closet that is on the other side of this wall. I hope I haven't confused anyone.
allows it. If you already have a stair in place, you most likely will have to modify the structure below it and rebuild the entire stair. Your current closet shouldn't make it easier or harder, it's typical for wood stairs to have empty spaces below them.

Amazing storage solution and use of space!
What an observant question! That is basically a big step. There are a couple of reasons we did that: the space where the stairs lead is just a small storage loft for the client's art collection; as the space is
That first step was intentionally left tall to keep the client's young son from wandering up the stairs. Since the stair only goes up to a small storage cubby (not even full ceiling height), we decided this would be a not-so-intrusive safety measure. Great question!
This type of storage would look amazing and be completely functional for me: sewing/project room
Love the storage idea under stairs
I want. I will have my closet with tv unit on the one wall and the staircase meeting that wall. I do not like this style, but it provides a good visualization

Vince, You would only need a dimensional sketch of what you want. Then you could give that sketch to an engineer to design and draft the product. The engineer could then find a fab shop to make the ladder and do the finish work. If you are interested in making your own custom ladder, I am an engineer
