“designed a very similar stair. We had specified 1/2" steel plate and the depth of the steel is 5 1/2" on both the rise and the run. The stairs are freestanding and are attached only at the floor and the 2nd floor loft and are approximately 9 ft from finish floor to finish floor. The treads are 3" thick”
