Hello, Wood grades vary and these floors were chosen for their species and grain, the best thing to do is speak with your supplier about your desired grade and woodgrain. The material is 4" pecan/hickory for the floors (locally sourced in Austin) and the stair treads are laid up solid pecan.
indeed wood boxes on cantilevered steel treads. We recommend consulting with a structural engineer if you are designing a similar staircase to ensure the supporting wall structure will function as designed.

Can you tell me the wood species and color of both stairs and flooring
worked with Wood Construction Systems out of Dunmore, PA. The floor is cherry that was stained to pull out the deeper tones.

you make wood stairs less slippery?
Wood steps are gorgeous to look at but absolutely treacherous, especially for the elderly or for children who run everywhere at top speed. I always recommend installing a stair runner. For the stairs photographed above, it would take some research and some design expertise to pick the right material

with the wood wearing down over time or with silvers?
the back side. It looks like interesting as a use for plastic timbers. The problem with wood timbers is that they dry out and as they do so they develop checking which can fill with dirt. Adding a slight radius to the edges will manage silvers.

redwood siding, the wall on the right is leather tiles from Blackstock Leather in Canada ( custom color) cladding the fireplace and the floor is 24" Jane Grey Sandstone tiles from Vermont . It is the same stone they use in the Apple Stores.
