leave spaces between wood slats and add backlighting
of thin wood slats. I would go with a 3-inch wood strip for this look. I like the idea of having spaces in between the slats to allow for backlighting.
Wood slats 3" wide with space in between to backlight
Vertical and thin. Create a distinctively modern look with a vertical installation of thin wood slats. I would go with a 3-inch wood strip for this look. I like the idea of having spaces in between the slats to allow for backlighting.

attach slats so you can clean under them
This is so amazing that I copied the idea for our front entry - we used frosted glass with fixed windows (they are bathroom windows, so frosted was best anyway) and now we are trying to devise a way to do the slats where you can clean the spider webs and glass
under the slats? Thanks so much for any advice you could give!!!
advise the wood that was used- ipe? cedar? Does it require much maintenance? thanks!
Interesting facade created with the wooden slats.

translucent wood. I thought it would be need to put in the front of the house.please guide me when to get this type of translucent . thannks
(interior) and wood slats. The slats interlock and, when they operate, stop traffic on the street. The "big" concept was to conceal/disguise the garage from the front view. Glad you like them. - HM
but the wood slatted garage doors. Where did you find the picture? I would be interested in learning more about that home itself and the garage door installation process, and how they work. I mean, those are awesome! ( http://baldwingaragedoorsandgates.com )

Questions2
Using wood slats without a secondary wall is limited to fences, guardrails, and other applications where the space behind is open to the elements. This shed is a rare example of a residential enclosure that does not require an air and water barrier. A roof with translucent plastic sheds water from the
horizontal slats of wood. Spaced as they are, both light and air can circulate through the structure. But like the previous project, the overall effect is sleek and modern. I'd love a fence like this across my property. It would let me look out onto the world but keep anyone inside feeling less exposed.
horizontal slats to less than 4 inches. This is required by code. Most building codes will allow a railing height to be anywhere from 36 to 42 inches, but keep in mind that a 36-inch-high railing tends to encourage people to hop up and use it as a seat, which defeats the purpose.
