I have grown the Alaska Fern in sun with good success. You have to make sure it's well watered though. It's hard to identify all the plants in that area but if you have some more examples of what you like I can let you know if it will work in sun conditions. I hope this helps.

did this project over 15 years ago, but I believe the pool house is around 600-700+ square feet. It has a kitchen, bath, changing room, open lounging area and the open porch. I'll attach a few more images for you.

is too moderns for ranch style look I'm going for but like the layout of back patio and glass windows and double doors that look out from main living area.
