honed finishes are more high maintanence. Is that true and does a satin finish fall in the same category?

and the silver trailing plant could be an artemesia (perennial).
Looking at the tiny picture on my phone I am going to say its some silver mound artemesia trailing out of that pot. Silver mound gets a little leggy in the shade, which looks to be the case here.
trailing silver plant is Lotus maculatus (common name Lotus vine or Parrots Beak) It can have orange or red flowers. Here's a link for more info on the lotus vine http://www.portkellsnurseries.com/plantdb.php?id=1556 I hope this helps!
bloom finishes. Dahlias are one of the most profusely flowering plants in the garden, but in order to keep them going for a long season, it's critical to remove spent flowers regularly. Just like with roses, by taking off the old blooms you send a signal to the plant that the season is not yet over.

replacing painted composite porch floor and love the look of Ipe but am worried about using t&g Ipe because my porch occasionally gets rain blown in. But I don't want it to look like a deck either which is what worries me about spacers. Any ideas?
shutters painted that color or is it a wood stain? I love the natural color! Please share the color name with me. Thanks.
Can T&G Ipe be painted and is a better choice than using T&G fir decking?
