Could you please tell what the wood flooring material is and how it holds up? Would a wood type material hold up in Maryland? And how does it compare cost-wise?
Hello, I love your design! I would love to know the floor used opposite the wood deck. I have a similar deck and I'm
I'm looking to pair it up with another material so that it won't look to wood heavy. Thanks.
The wood flooring is called Epi, which is a Brazilian hardwood. It is very hard to work with because it is such an extremely hard wood. If it is installed too close to soil or moisture it will "cup" and loose the perfect
appearance. It is one of the most expensive lumber that you can buy. It would hold up well in extreme climates but like all natural woods will grey out and one of the reasons this wood is so desirable is because of its unique rich, dark color. So to preserve that, annual timber oil application would restore

NYC Roof Garden: Terrace Deck, Wood Planter Boxes, Fence, Container Garden, Ipe
This custom contemporary NYC roof garden design features beautifully stained ipe deck and planters with plantings of evergreens, Japanese maples, bamboo, boxwoods, and ornamental grasses.
Love this! Is this just the one type of wood (ipe) with natural color variations that gives the boards the different looks?
What a beautiful deck and planter boxes. The contrast that Ipe has brought to the brick wall and glass panels has really brought out the design of this deck.
Wood shouldn't be limited to just outdoor decking. This Ipe deck and planter boxes incorporate a lot of design elements in a space saving design. The different levels, plants, and siding provide

what kind of wood did you use on soffits?
We are building a modern mountain home. Our architect wants to use Douglas Fir for the exterior soffits. I think that wood has to much grain and won't look good. We picked cedar for the exterior for the house. Which is the best pick for the soffits? Help
Beautiful design and beautiful house, thanks for sharing! Q1: Were there any shear factors to mitigate? Covered by the exposed beam? Or is there a steel frame under
seal against each other. You can find details for this on most major window mfr's sites. In this case the homeowner, who is a very accomplished cabinet maker, manufactured all of the doors and windows himself. Impressive!!

I live in Northern California, how does the wood outdoor cabinets hold up outside?
love the ceiling...what kind of wood is it and color of stain?
The wood is a combination of redwood and cedar. Our apologies, but we did not retain records of the stain color.
The issue of most concern with wood cabinets in the exterior is moisture absorption. If the wood absorbs moisture, it will shrink and swell and eventually deteriorate and rot. So, a
kept up is very important. And the fabrication of the door frame joinery is very important. In highly exposed areas to both rain and sun, we will use wood that is resistant to rotting (redwood or cedar) and apply them to a metal frame or door as a veneer only, so that the door will not sag over time.

Hi! Is there a special finish on the wood cabinets since it is outside? Thanks!
Hi there, I'm writing a blog for CountertopIQ on designing the ideal outdoor kitchen. I'd love to use this photo alongside my article. Would you
finish if you want it to look this rich each season. I am currently using Sikkens on more recent outdoor wood cabinetry and it seems to keep a richer look much longer. The cabinet box for these cabinets is a marine grade plywood and the drawer guides and hinge hardware are all rated for outdoors.
