In this case we are not concerned because of the location relative to the prevailing wind. This is a very large porch with plenty of air. The fans do not impact smoke at all. They are wonderful in the summer comfort.
that, I'm worried. The ceiling fans will actually hurt you, turn them off if you have any breeze at all. Ceiling fans create a circular air flow and do a great job of holding the smoke in the same area so it will just get thicker over time. In your application, for several reasons I would bite the bullet
