Due to the orientation of the house, the skylights were a must. The sun tends to position overhead or at unfavorable angles for most seasons creating a heavily shaded interior. The skylights solve the problem.

The "cooking balcony" was a nice addition to the upper level. It's depth is the product of a fire code requirement to keep the grill a specific distance from the main structure when in use.

This weather-protected cooking area was added toward the end of the project at the owner's request. The hood is exterior grade stainless steel as is the grill.
