that the task requires much more planning than I would've anticipated, since this is to be done outside. When you say slab, are you talking about concrete slabs like the sidewalk slabs that you would stack side by side? Clearly that would require steel pan support as well as Dresser Homes mentioned to
think a thin set application on plywood is very permanent. Tiles can become loose with time or by freeze thaw or by deflection of structure. Stone on a slab is a superior way to go. There are thin set systems available like Mape or Shlueter I would recommend you consult an engineer. There is much to think

On average, what is cost to build on 12x12 concert slab?
This porch could be built on a concrete slab. The approximate dimension of the "square" is 12' x 12' although the overal porch is in the neighborhood of 250- 300 square feet.
