Can we put tile over cement floor in Northeast climate
We live in upstate NY and have a screened-in porch off our home (built in 1925). I just am not loving the cement floor and would like to use tile/slate. He says no, that it will crack etc because of the cold winters. What are our options?
Can you please give me the detail info on the tile?
Yes you can install slate or tile- needs to be porcelain not ceramic. You must install with the proper type thin set to take freezing temp. such as Mapei Kerabond & Keralstic.
Maybe use some of the tile
I like the tile and the tv wall

Patio with Cement Columns and Redwood Ceiling
I have been trying to find full section cement molds for columns for my house. Was wondering if that's how columns were done or purchased that way. The only mold I have been able to find makes columns in 2 ft. Sections. I need to do split columns for exterior
exterior face of house and wrap posts like in picture. If you or anyone knows of where I can find cement molds for columns i would greatly appreciate it. Thankyou.

Hello & thanks for the question. It's been a while since we worked on this project but this material is a 1" Montana multi-colored slate. This is actually a flagstone product that is mortar set. You can't use a slate tile in this application due to freeze/thaw
freeze/thaw cycles popping tiles off the porch. Good luck with your project.
