Love the trees! Were they installed while green or were they dried?
We are planning to put structural support posts both upstairs and down in our new house. I like the idea of using tree trunks, and wonder if we can use them green, or if we need to have them kiln dried for best results. We live
The trees were harvested on-site as the building project began. They were limbed slightly, stripped of their bark, and left to air dry during the early construction

These are custom pieces, by the woodworkers at the design/build firm I was a partner in at the time of this project. The wood is mostly 'sinker' cypress (so named since it has been recovered from river bottoms

The spacious, naturally ventilated 2-story dining space is accentuated with the natural branching of a madrone tree. © www.edwardcaldwellphoto.com
Was the slab poured around it? How was the tree modified to be suitable for the indoors?
It was installed after the slab was poured. The madrone tree column was secured at the top and bottom for installation. Because it was a madrone the tree trunk was left "as-is."
