Love the shelving here! What can you tell me about the supports? Are they custom? If so, what is the base material? Old fence or gate? Something else? Are the shelves themselves wood or metal? thanks!
The supports are metal, custom burnished, with clavos at the intersections. The shelves are wood.

Style Secret: Open ShelvingNot so long ago, kitchens didn't have the banks of upper cabinetry that are standard now. What they had instead was shelving, home to stacks of plates and bowls, canisters of dry goods and baskets of edibles. And in cottage interiors, not much changes in the translation, although
Simply adding a coat of whitewash and open shelving to your kitchen recalls eras gone by, when many of those who lived in the country couldn't afford cabinetry.

Was the hardware for shelves bought or custom?
What is the thickness of the wood shelves? Thanks!
There is no firebrick, or evidence of a chimney, and it appears to be only as deep as the adjacent shelves. Candles will be fine in there, but not a real fire with the wood stored on those bottom shelves.

Out of cabinetry but not out of dishes? Don’t let a wall of windows stop you from utilizing storage. Display your dishware by installing shelving across the windows; the natural light on the pieces will create a showcase
If your kitchen feels restrictive and your cabinets are getting in the way of natural light, removing them may be a good option. Replace them with shelving for storing your dishware. Your space will open up and your beautiful dishes will be the center of attention.
