We recently purchased a Minnesota cabin built in 1851. It has the rough hewn walls and chinking. About 20 years ago an addition including a drywall kitchen was added. I would love to paint the
original log cabin was built in the 1820's and moved to this site, near Jasper, in the north Georgia mountains. The logs are 14" tall and about 5" wide. Its a bearing, or solid exterior wall. The white area between the logs is called "chinking". Chinking is type of mortar used in traditional log home construction
