This project involved a complete overhaul of a very traditional three storey home in midtown Toronto. The owners asked for a radical transformation that would leave them, and visitors, in awe from the moment they stepped inside. Their mandate: modern, white, a bit of whimsy, and lots of storage.
Great Design, I'm in Toronto, who did the stairs and railings?
Can you please tell me if this Is marble Carrara tile or an alternative ? Is this durable for a kitchen floor ?
Hi, The floors are Statuario marble, which is a less expensive option to Cararra marble, and perfectly suitable for a kitchen. Thanks for your interest! Catlin

What was the total cost for this staircase remodeling project, including design, demo, materials and installation? A ballpark # is fine. Thanks...
I'm trying to budget for some upgrades
Thank you! Our stair remodel project is about twice as many steps with three landings. The initial estimate is $23,000 so I guess we are in the same ballpark. I was worried that
Hi PeteandJenny, we end up using a remnant of the kitchen granite as the shelf and then did a huge collection of plants. My clients have really green thumbs so it made sense for them. To make it fit the overall
@wmoomaw - since I'm not a floor refinisher, I can't answer that question. Maybe contact a local flooring installer for this level of detail. Best wishes!

Main concern is that we won't be able to get enough tension to pass the "4 inch sphere" inspection. At our highest point we are spanning ~6 feet. I'm just curious as to what others have experienced, knowing that codes vary immensely.

between hand rail and the floor is fantastic. Really love the deep, rich, glossy finish of the hand rails. This is exactly what I am looking for for my remodel. Could you please let me know know what type of stain is it? Thanks
I'm certain these floors are simply dark stained oak. If you are having your floors refinished/stained - You dont need to know the name of the stain. Its best
I like the white newels better than stained ones. Can't decide if I like the "cap" on the newel stained or white. I'm thinking white?
