imaginatIve design solutions resulting in the creation of a high quality living environment with minimal impact on the global environment. The open, free-flowing design results in a contemporary Caribbean home with a comfortable scale while making the most of the location’s spectacular views.
This contemporary home sits comfortably amidst the treetops overlooking the surf break at Cane Garden Bay. The innovative use of materials combined with strict attention to detail has resulted in a very clean modern interpretation of the traditional Caribbean hillside home. A focus on sustainability
They were designed by using butcher block slabs. They cantilever out from the walls, using aluminum angles. The stainless steel cables are non-structural and just for safety.
center garden and floating step walkway which mimics the main home’s entrance. The garden features a fountain, fire pit, pool, outdoor arbor dining area, and LED lighting under the floating steps.
This contemporary home features clean lines and extensive details, a unique entrance of floating steps over moving water, attractive focal points, great flows of volumes and spaces, and incorporates large areas of indoor/outdoor living on both levels.
Taking aging in place into consideration, there
kitchen, and garden via folding and pocketing glass doors and uses a retractable screen concealed in the lanai. When the screen is lowered, it holds up to 90% of the home’s conditioned air and keeps out insects. The 2nd floor master and exercise rooms open to balconies.

relate to a contemporary sense of materiality. Most of the details were custom designed, from the marble mosaics in the bathrooms, to the millwork and Prouve-inspired shutters on the kitchen floor. A sculptural bronze and mirrored screen was designed by Axis Mundi to create an entrance foyer, using cast glass
and the garden was redesigned. Axis Mundi was responsible for the complete architectural, interior design and decorating of this home.
The goal of the project was to respect the charms and scale of the original historical style without mimicking period details, and create a suitably modern context for
rigorous design scheme.
