Beautiful design how wide are the treads?
This is close to how I imagine them. Not in the finish design necessarily, but in shape and scale: 2 or 3 steps to the landing and a turn. Front face is closed or with built-ins. Also the the relocated office door where those silly bird sculptures are.

Stair Hall
yourself to the kitchen: Bar pulls make a statement anywhere in the house that a stylish handle is needed. On hallway built-ins, playroom toy boxes or office file cabinets, they add a chic twist instead of simply blending in.

Traditional Staircase
starting point a metal fabricator in your area should be able to coordinate the construction of similar railing for you. Hope that helps, Synthesis Design
The wood softens the look making it seem less "office like".
If I was ever to do a modern design I would want this glass for little ones
Another glass bannister / railing option - with some wood. Looks less design intensive than some glass examples.
