have a small house, we took four small rooms out of the front for living room and vaulted the ceiling and putting a loft bedroom above the kitchen and only other room in house not a lot of space for stairs these are perfect

for loft space with respect to stairs vs ladders. Everything I've seen seems to indicate that if the space is "inhabitable"(coded by size ) then it must have stairs not ladder. How do you get around this??
