100k Stair Wall
hey, i am currently designing my house and am looking at having plywood timber panels and exposed studwork finishes internally. do you have to laquer or finish the timbers in a special coating? im thinking of a) splintering etc
seal and protect the wood. Minwax fast dry polyurethane is a great product. It will go on clear, may change the color slightly, very slightly. Different finishes are available also. I used this on a red oak staircase and turned out great!
something different for the stairs to basement
This is what I call a "Swiss Cheese" wall. It could be fun to design a series of openings of differing heights and sizes...for people tall and small...to peek-a-view as they come into the great room. This would be done in the existing wall.

How do you paint two different colors in a rounded corner home
What color are these walls and what type of finish?
seen such a paint split on rounded corners. Even done really well, it's not ideal. There are a lot of ways to bring color in to make a space feel different, like art, rugs, textiles.
I am also interested to know the paint color and finish of the walls. Thank you!
I have not seen your final work so it's hard for me to judge. The safer route is the latter of your choices. I would try to go for a smooth finish knowing that you will have a bigger market wanting that particular look on the walls. Regarding the sharp corners, they are not difficult to replace except
Drywall - Commonly used in a lot of houses in different rooms. You would probably see this in a bathroom.

What type of paint finish is shown on the trim wood? Semi gloss? Satin?
Hi does this floor have a satin, or semi-gloss finish? looks nice!
Did you use a semi gloss finish on floors?
I am in process of having refinishing our wood circular staircase. I would like to know what you think of having a different color from the existing hardwood floor (maple honey color oak) and staining tread and handrail and newel in dark walnut color (the rest of the staircase
how did you finish the gold finials please?!
keep the tread the same color as the floor, and do a different color railing/newel. The contrast of the dark railing adds visual intrigue, but you do have to chose the right tones to pull it off. Do some test samples, and see them against the different lights in the room (artificial and natural) because
