How are the wood boxes attached to the steel structure.
We are installing similar stairs. The wood boxes were glued to the metal treads, but now the wood is splitting and joints are separating
How did you get this past code inspection without the requisite guardrail on the outside of the stair?
How do the building codes allow you to build a stair like this without a gaurdrail on the open side?
The owner's of this house removed the glass panel originally installed during construction.
we have a stair project in Illinois and would like to know how the treads are attached to the wall - using steel embedded in concrete wall? did you use a stair 'system' or all made custom?

Is the artwork behind the stairs I'm front of windows? It looks like it is letting light in--what is the medium? Glass, thin cloth, or how are you getting that effect?

Time it takes: Wende says a team of two can remove an existing door frame and jamb and install a prefinished custom unit in about half a day. Stepanski says prefabricated units that arrive fully assembled can be installed in about an hour by the average homeowner.

How do you install and secure a stair runner?
Hi. I have a curved stair case and many carpet installers have told me not to use a linear design, due to not being able to match up the lines. How were you able to make that work? Looks great!
carpet guys told me .. you cannot use a stripe on a stair with a winder ( ( I only have 2 unlike yours!). Wish you were closer by...! We need skilled installers here!
carpet and wall shelf....good idea to redo the banister
5. How should I handle the landing? On a carpet with stripes, using a mitered corner is very attractive. I would use the same type of corner for a runner that has a border. In this case, they maintained the same distance from the wall on the landing as on the stairs.

can't stop dreaming about installing the same at my house. Can you give me any specifics on what brackets to use behind the drywall, size and material of the steps, and what type of wires/bars and how they are connected to the ceiling joists and stairs? I like the floating step on the bottom too!

How was the tongue and groove on the walls installed?
We are building our house and i want to have these walls instead of sheetrock. Can you tell me how these were installed? Is it on top of sheetrock, or instead of? Thanks!
Hi there! I love this room. I would like to install a very similar wall in my bathroom. How wide are these panels? Are they shiplap, t&g, v-groove? I cannot tell from the picture, and it would help greatly in my quest to emulate this look! :) Thanks so much!
am utterly in love with these walls. Are they good to go in a bathroom that will have moisture?? How wide are they? Can you install to drywall? Thank you so much! Rhea
The proper way to install it is on top of a plywood backing. Use the plywood in place of the drywall.

Are the handrail brackets custom or available off the shelf for sale?
I'm curious how many RAMPS have been built instead of stairs in new custom homes? And how much more difficult or not, would that be? It certainly would be easier moving furniture and safer for children especially
can you tell me how the stairs are attached thanks courtney

Hi mymellow, You're correct, it certainly would be safer for people with special needs (not so sure how safe it would be for toddlers or to move furniture though), but anyhow that would require 1/12 slope (handicap ramp) to meet code. And if that's the

Are the stairs engineered wood? They are beautiful. I was looking at this kind of material for a floating stair I'm doing but was told it would not be a good idea for stairs. Can you tell me if this was prefinished, engineered and if so, were there any

pulled this photo is to show what happens when the bookcase is painted like the wall. The books look like they are floating and in some areas this is a great look. This photo shows how it helps to not take away from the great staircase as it move up the space. I don't think we have an application for
