bookcase to be prominent this is a great way to do so. What about cookbooks? Linda do you have many and want a place in the kitchen? I like what the look of cookbooks do for the kitchen.
I like the stairs leading to a window, even if that was a party wall with wall garden
Modern design, stairs, windows above bookcases
make transitions between spaces or between material palettes. This stair appears to curl around the wall that supports it on the right, but it's the window straight ahead that makes it so appealing. Forced movement through a house — stairs, corridors and so on — offers opportunities for leading the eye

Eclectic Modern Tudor Entry Stair
Can anyone tell me where the leaded glass overlays are from, or if these are the windows?
What are the colours of paint used on the walls and wainscoting and window trim?
Leaded Glass windows like these can be custom made by Tiffany Stained Glass, Ltd.
Stairs area or double height space near kitchen
ball lighting (ylighting). can have multiple pendants. good artwork, but find too busy with windows and detailed trim.

Kitchens and living rooms are obvious places to add windows, but stairwells and landings are great places

stairs are located in the hallway but this tradition is broken with plenty. Here's the stairs coming down into the kitchen. I hope the kitchen extractor hood is a good one to stop the kitchen odours creeping up the stairs.

West Seattle Skybox Addition
on Puget Sound great you on your decent from the Skybox to the main level. The main benefit, however, is the flood of light from above down to the kitchen and dining room, which previously suffered from extreme contrast of the bright outdoors and dark interior. Light even penetrates down to the basement
