it was painted an awful color so we decided to strip the paint and then sanded it down to the bare wood, after that we just used a neutral wood satin to revive the wood color. All this was done over 20 years ago...so I'm sorry I don't remember much more.
...it's a mix of left over paints we had.

use furniture at top of stairs as a divider?
nice idea to save money; just simple wood and paint. love this
Good ideas, like painting the stairs spring green, coupled with found objects, like this old cabinet that's been stripped to shabby chic perfection, are major craftiness indicators.See more of this colorful house

is the cat painted or wallpaper?
have a clue. For both the stairs and the walls, I do colorwashing which is a technique of layering paint colors on top of each other. It gives an effect that is more complex than just a coat or two of paint. Sorry I can't help w/ the exact answer.
Pretty colors together. Love the antique grass seat chair painted and stained. Paint and stain mine different colors for decoration would be so fun!

Color of paint in foyer?
Looks like Luster Stone Antique Parchment maybe, the wall paint looks like Sherwin Williams Latte 6108 (sorry but it isn't a venetian plaster)
That finish they are asking about is either a Luster Stone or Shimmer Stone,
me this is not a wall paper and the type of paper you are referring to will not give you a venetian plaster look either. The characteristics of this finish does not reflect a typical venetian plaster or a simple glazing as the dry lines are much lighter in tone as what would be the "wet area". This comes

did you paint the stair treads?
correct, it was paint. The finish was eggshell if I remember correctly, and it held up very well to the wear and tear of foot traffic.
Dropping in on this thread. The finish on the beluga? This is paint and not stain, correct? How did it do with foot traffic?
Yes we did. We painted the treads,
If I remember correctly, we used an eggshell finish.
Hi can you please tell me what kind of paint you used, i.e gloss, satin silk etc thanks
Those dark tones are very close to an antique heart pine as well. Bamboo works very well in environments that have dog paws or lots of kid traffic.
