This was your typical suburban staircase with golden oak railings and balusters, and carpeted stair treads. Jebasanthi - My recommendation is to talk with an architect in your area. They will need to draw up plans anyway for permits, etc., and will be able to tell you what's possible given the construction of your home. Best of luck!

the iron rung it will sit on it should be, and how thick it should be. How is this wood hand rail attached to the iron rung below it? Thank you for your advice!

Hi. The steel balustrade is 1/2 x 1-1/2. The wood handrail is 2" wide x 1-1/2" high. Screws attach through the metal into the bottom of the handrail. Thanks for your interest and good luck with your project.

the stairs so that the balusters will not sit on the stairs themselves but will rather be sitting on the "half" wall. Can you tell me the height of your balusters so I can get an idea if mine will look similar to this? Thanks
