and light-filled. The lowest level is an entry and kitchen space, and a few steps up is the main living area. Above the living area is a cantilevered bed pavilion that projects out into the main space, supported on steel beams. A final stair leads up to a roof garden. All the spaces flow into one another
with painted (existing) brick, glass blacksplashes and shelving, and white lacquered kitchen cabinets, stair cabinets, and fittings. The cantilevered bed pavilion is clad in dark wood, and anchors the space - a central object around which everything revolves. A dark wood floor and wood stair treads lead

Thanks for your reply.. Planning for a loft staircase. Have an area 75" wide and bottom of loft 75" so 15" tall and 15" deep but worried height is difficult to use.
If we could build this with wood under the bed and put brick where the framed photo is, it would be great. Love the stairs but would

Storage used as stairs up to loft
Not surprisingly, storage under stairs tends to be common in small spaces, many of them urban lofts like the preceding example. This stair is technically a bookcase, since it’s not code compliant and the opening to the roof access where the person is heading is too low — watch your head!

Questions1
Hello fiona4000! This a “stair” that connects a bedroom to a loft above. The face of the stair has storage cubbies and drawers for additional storage. The “stair” does not need to meet the building code requirements for a true stair as the loft has an exit path to a code compliant stair on the upper level
