How to properly mix painted and stained wood trim?

how do you achieve that dark glossy, luster finish on the railing and steps? do you use stain or paint? what color stain and what color paint? how many coats applied?
I love the floors! could you please tell me what kind of wood and what color stain you used to achieve this look? thank you
finish to a a slightly darker color (slight upcharge) like old iron or dark bronze, but I'm not sure, or it might be ok left as is in French Black. The glass is beautiful on it.
The doors are made by Williams Somerville, a custom wood/ door shop in New York City. You could ask them about the picture
stain color and highly recommend that you do samples and view them on site. The type of wood will also play into the results. I would guess that you are right about the stain as that was what we used on most of the wood...but please do a sample and view on site before selecting.

floor color. I absolutely LOVE your home and the floor color is fantastic. Everyone I speak to about dark floors says its hard to keep the clean and they show scratches easily. Because online the dark wood look that saddens me but what do you recommend? I'm torn!
them sanded down to bare wood, and used Minwax's Jacobean stain. It's quite dark, more so than appears in the photo. So, if what you are liking about them is the color, you're going to need to do a bit of experimenting. The stain will change color depending on the type of wood, so that's the first variable
variable. But if you like this overall look, then in addition to Jacobean, I'd suggest Dark Walnut and Special Walnut, both by Minwax. If you really want to make yourself (and your floor sander!) crazy, you can also mix stains. Just be sure to record what you combined. The last thing you might i
