High wainscot paneling add formality and character. A hidden slide-out coat closet built into the wall takes advantage of an unused chase next to the fireplace. At the far end of the hallway, a small powder room was relocated out of the kitchen area to allow privacy within the powder room, as well as create more useable space in the kitchen.

Kitchen remodel in Oak Park. TZS Design collaborated on this kitchen design with L'Armadio cabinetry and we are thrilled with results. This large kitchen incorporate state of the art appliances with energy efficient LED and compact fluorescent light fixtures. The cabinetry is all custom designed finished in painted maple with durable quartzite counter tops. Marble accent tile is displayed behind the range with grey ceramic subway tile for a hint of contrast. The floor is durable color body porcelain in large format to minimize grout joints. A TV is cleverly hidden behind a wall cabinet with entertainment style doors. Custom drawer inserts were designed to provide more efficient access to spices and other kitchen related items. The hub of the home includes the kitchen with midnight blue & white custom cabinets by Beck Allen Cabinetry, a quaint banquette & an artful La Cornue range that are all highlighted with brass hardware. The kitchen connects to the living space with a cascading see-through fireplace that is surfaced with an undulating textural tile.

This client opted to NOT have her builder install the typical wire shelving. Great idea! We were able to maximize the space of this narrow closet by doing all of the hanging on one side and all shelving / drawers on the opposite side. Now, when she puts all of her clothing in... it will not feel as narrow. She can enjoy having everything grouped together and nicely organized.
