I want to place gas fire pit below trees in my backyard. Any risk to trees like this one secondary to the heat from a gas fire pit?
Each fire pit will have its own clearances to structures however, trees are usually not a concern as the heat dissipates as it rises.
possible fire pit idea- build out from wall in corner??
The garden built up behind the fire pit
I like how the fire pit sits inside the retaining wall as part of the garden bed.
What size do I need? The size of your fire pit is something to consider based on your intended use and guests. A small one won’t give off enough heat for more than a few people yet a design that’s too large could deter conversation because people will have to raise their voice to speak across it.

the patio design my landscape guy came up with has a seating area like this, but does anyone have this and is it comfortable to sit on? Seems like, while awesome looking could be uncomfortable and wanted to hear thoughts before I give
Are you building permanent seating like in the picture? The bench is very close to the firepit in this picture which tells me it is not a wood burning firepit. If you are planning on a wood burning firepit a good rule of thumb is 7'. If you are using a gas firepit then it would be the same

Hi, thank you for the feedback so quickly. I am actually looking for the material that you used on the top of the fire pit. Is it granite??? I don't see any seams. Did you have it cut from one piece of granite? Is it polished or honed? Thank you so much!

Can you tell me what kind of stone was layer on the ground around the fire pit? And what you use for the joints to prevent weeds?
have a very similair one in our backyard. I have not heard of anyone ever falling in them. I do have a client that posts pictures of her dog jumping in her fire pit, not when the fire is on :) Good luck getting your hubby to agree, a firepit is a great addition to any yard.
popular sizes are 36" and 45" diameter and 11-14" deep, but we are handcrafting cast iron bowls and stands. The cast iron radiates a lot of heat. In the pit above typically rock or sand may be used for drainage. Obviously, the overall size will depend on your outdoor living area and how many you are entertaining
