Reading Hall
Window seating, lots of cushions, privacy curtain in the library
Consider twin bed with full-length curtain at end of bedroom bump out as sleeping nook (curtain = privacy for guests) (and leave bathroom door in existing position)
This shows how even the end of a room can be segmented for more reading privacy. Even when not in use, the curtain adds a soft, classic touch to a library. For a traditional fall/winter weight, think velvet.

Hearthstone Farm - Back Hall
For the one house we looked at with windows all the way down the hall...gives privacy at body level, but allows all the light in at the top...especially since the hall is on the upper level.
I love this idea for adding privacy to a narrow hallway while softening the light. Full, gathered café curtains on the windows add a pleasing note of softness.

I think that sleeping nook is the best idea especially with the privacy curtain!
Add drapery panels to create more privacy in loft area, and/or add hanging bed netting as well for sense of enclosure
