I like the windows up top - brings in light from all around

We are building a home with several built in desk areas. I do not want to use granite on all of them but my builder says the wood tops don't stand up. Please tell me what your experience has been with this desk. What is wood species? Stained with poly?

I think your instinct is correct, that granite topped desks everywhere may look dated and it's more a question of taste than longevity- granite desks feel a bit 90's to me, it'd have to be done very carefully

I too would love to know what type of chiseled stone was used on the hearth top?
