LiLu InteriorsLiLu Interiors
Chris and Marna believe in Ohana Mau Loa which means “family forever.” As return clients, they knew LiLu could help them build a vacation home in Hawaii that would provide a desirable and comfortable gathering place for four adult children and their spouses and 11 grandchildren. A central common space at the heart of the home with separate living quarters surrounding it helps to accommodate everyone with both shared and personal living spaces. Each has its own personality that showcases playful references to Big Island life. And yet the overall design concept weaves together a love of world travel with traditional tastes. Built with mahogany wood that is a staple of island construction, treasured heirlooms and other personal keepsakes are the perfect complement to make this dream home feel welcoming and familiar. Fabrics, finishes and furnishings were selected with the sea in mind and to accommodate wet swim suits, bare feet, and sandy shoes. ----- Project designed by Minneapolis interior design studio LiLu Interiors. They serve the Minneapolis-St. Paul area including Wayzata, Edina, and Rochester, and they travel to the far-flung destinations that their upscale clientele own second homes in. ---- For more about LiLu Interiors, click here: https://www.liluinteriors.com/ --- To learn more about this project, click here: https://www.liluinteriors.com/blog/portfolio-items/ohana-mau-loa/

The back patio of this tropical beachside home was enclosed with aluminum shutters to ensure home safety AND privacy while keeping style. The louvers can moved in any position, yet still unable to be penetrated. The panels could also be key locked with a double shute bolt allowing the homeowners front porch furniture to be secure. The multifold installation allowed the owners to completely open the shutters back if they wanted the total outside feel.

Nature's TouchNature's Touch
Tropical islands are the focal point for the design build of the acreage behind this stunning, Mediterranean-style home. The hardscape features a three level pool, including a toddler pool and a wading pool. Starting at the reef, there are three leaf petal loungers which allow you to recline in four to six inches of water at your feet. Limestone holy boulders are placed strategically along the edge for a natural element. A beautiful blend of earthy colors within the flagstone create a natural and rustic pool deck. All of the steps and bench seating inside the pool are also made of flagstone (custom fabricated flagstone coping for this project was completed on site). The toddler pool features fiber optic lighting which was installed at the bottom of the pool in the gunnite shell to create the reflection of a starry, celestial sky (fiber optic lighting can be used to create any number of shapes or constellations). An infinity edge crashes over beautiful stone and tile work, falling into a wading pool below. Another special feature is a water feature of riverstone cobbles sitting below dancing flames. Large stepping stones alongside this feature lead you to a lounge pool deck creating the feeling of an island retreat. Limestone slabs were used for a path of steps that take you through the landscaping back to the main house. A gazebo was added to hold an outdoor kitchen, an outdoor shower and a pool house with restrooms. All of the outdoor features are automated, allowing you to operate water temperature, fire features, water features, even the music and lighting from your smartphone.

Front Yard Landscape Project. This was a fun project we designed for a couple off of Palomino in Fort Myers. The Deckers wanted a very Tropical Design, Mrs. Decker lived in Hawaii for a bit and loved how lush the landscape was so she wanted us to incorporate that look in her own yard. The landscape has been kept up with by our Fort Myers Garden Service since the installation so we have been able to keep up with it exactly how our clients wish. These pictures were taken as we were doing a check up on the project, we loved to see their growth and how they were maturing so we had to take pictures to add to the profile. If you are interested in a project like this for your own yard we would be happy to meet with you and get a design started that matches your style. We LOVE to be creative, so don't be afraid to challenge us and throw us a curve ball to shake things up! Thank you for checking out our profile, hope to hear from you soon! - Peer Landscaping 239-645-6455 https://peerlandscaping.com Fort Myers Garden Service - Delicate Maintenance Company. 239-990-7494 https://fortmyersgardenservice.com
Upcycled Side Yard
Upcycled Side Yard
Sweet Smiling LandscapesSweet Smiling Landscapes
When this homeowner’s neighbor removed two, two- story-high Ficus trees, her side-yard became baron and sunbaked. Concrete covers virtually the whole area from the house to the property line, but because the side-yard has a lot of foot traffic and serves as a sitting area to the basement apartment, the owner did not want to remove any of the concrete. The solution was to put up fencing to block the view of the neighbor’s house, then upcycle wine barrels and 55-gallon drums into huge planters. The drums are large enough to accommodate a full-sized tree and provide the added advantage of giving height to smaller trees to provide further screening of the neighbor’s house. Everything was painted in bright colors to give the space a cheery Caribbean feel. The neighbor’s tree removal ended up as a blessing in disguise, because what had been a drab trough-way was transformed into a happy patio.
