Stone was used liberally throughout the home; we chose a honed travertine. “In the different areas of the house, an array of finishes for the stone, from brushed or tumbled to polished or honed,” most of the countertops throughout the house are granite, and the exterior beams are covered in rough-hewn Hawaiian coral stone. No kitchen should be without ample counter space. So we made sure this dream kitchen supplied enough of it to support the homeowner’s passion for cooking and fondness for mega-scale entertaining. And there’s plenty to go around, including a custom-built island that spans 18 feet and seats nine guests comfortably. This beautiful cabana, located by the water in Tampa, FL, contains a ceiling made from East Teak’s ipe and has received many compliments, the owners say. “We love our ceiling so much that we are thinking of doing our dock to match.” General Contractor Steve Jones of Pool Renovations of Tampa Bay, Inc. used 1 x 4 ipe, eased four edges (E4E), and finished the wood with Woodzotic (Woodrich Wiping Stain-Brown Sugar) to complete the exotic look.
