A Modern Tropical Patio Garden
what is the name of the plants on the edge of the right side? (the little round ones)
What's the name of the tall plant with red tip at the far left, second the end (little green one)?
Love the pot plant combinations. How often do you feed these plants and perform maintenance.
The tall red leaved plant on the left is a Canna lily 'Tropicana'. Here's a link for more information http://www.finegardening.com/pl
Hi verea, Yes, the plants are in full sun but could also handle part sun...4- 5 hrs a day would be ok. I have 10 - 15 plants per container. The larger container is about 36" across. I hope this helps!
green plant immediately to the left of the tree.
for other plants, but a canna can grow to four or five feet in a few months.

Lush and tropical plantings create a true getaway in this yard.
Potted plants can be integrated into a garden planted into the ground.

gardens are filled with plants, overlapping one another, climbing on top of one another, filling in the space below and up high. Density is key.Design tip: A sloped yard makes it easy to elevate plants so they can be seen while still maintaining the sense of a densely planted space. If your yard isn't sloped

Like this mixture of plants.
Plant for color. A cottage garden is, above all, vibrant. You can use an exuberant mix of colors, go for something bold or stick to softer shades. A color wheel can be a great guide for choosing colors, whether you want them to contrast or complement each other.Design tip: If you're new to designing
choose a theme color or colors, such as pinks, blues or purples, much like you would for colors inside a house. The different shapes of the individual plants you choose will give you variety; the repetition of color will have a calming and harmonious effect. As you get bolder, add a pop of contrasting color
