A small backyard space with brand new timber fences, features and alfresco patio, called for tropical Bali inspired greenery to compliment this East Fremantle home. Retaining the existing formal Lilly Pilly hedge, new planting was chosen for it's leaf colour and tropical qualities, keeping to a formal plant layout to simplify the planting in this small space and to provide accents to the windows. This space will quickly fill up with an exotic Bali feel to it. The addition of a Bali style lantern as feature by the clients, draws the eye down the existing informal pathway lined with variegated grasses to either side. This repetition of tufted grasses adds a formal element to the informal curves of the pathway. Photos Siggi Heyns

The indoor outdoor design of this tropical getaway opens to the lanai sporting stunning ocean views and an elegant infinity edge pool. The sea inspired orange throw pillows are dotted with fish and coral patterns, the lanterns are hammered bronze Monsteria leaves, and a fire bowl frames either side of the aqua lounge.

The great room flows onto the large lanai through pocketing glass doors creating a seamless indoor outdoor experience. On the lanai teak daybeds imported from Bali face each other with custom blue covers and throw pillows in blue with coral motifs, the rectangular pool is complete with an aqua lounge, built-in spa, and a swim up bar at the outdoor BBQ. The flooring is a gray ceramic tile, the pool coping is natural puka pavers, The house a combination of traditional plantation style seen in the white board and batten walls, with a modern twist seen in the wood framed glass doors, thick square exposed tails and ebony stained square posts supporting the overhangs.
