The art above the fireplace was found in an antique shop in San Miguel de Allende and brought back to Portland where it was framed and returned to Mexico as my "carry on".
The fireplace is hand carved of pale stone. The face of the "angle" on the front was carved from a photo of a grandchild. With this bedroom being in the basement level, the fireplace adds so much to visually warm the space up.
These are the three pieces I found by digging around in a shop....they are rusted, dirty, dusty, full of cobwebs and achingly beautiful to me. When guests arrive, we like to always have Casa Blanca lilies by the bed.....this room is one of my very favorite rooms.....cool, calm, beautiful and inviting.

The dark beams have small arches between each one.....the lighting on the wall highlights this architectural feature and warms up the room. The lighting is on a dimmer and can be controlled from the bed. The lamps on either side of the bed were scrapped of their paint (to get them to rustic white...whoa, that was a job!) We added black shades and star shaped crystal finials.
This room is partially underground so natural light is scarce. We decided to leave the walls painted matte white.....bring in dark antique furniture and keep the bedding pale white and cream.
