A new rear addition adds a bathroom off the second floor, but the window stayed in place - now with frosted glass - to let the southern light come through to the dramatic red stairwell. The original, wrapping Victorian staircase is the focal point of the whole house.

The enclosed back porch was opened up with windows so the light connects to the dining room and kitchen on the left. The original siding and back door remained in place, and a new floor of salvage wood was installed.

The dramatic foyer and living room are linked by tall columns, probably added to the Victorian house in the 1920s. The odd colors of tile on the fireplace appear to be original, so we let them be and let the walls stay neutral.

The first floor bedroom had drop ceilings, paneling, and 1960s bathroom tile around the hearth. Now a master bath and closet sit on each side of the fireplace, and the high ceilings let the original mantle breathe properly.

The screened porch columns match the house's original front porch columns, with detailed trim at the top and bottom of each. The posts sit on a half-wall for privacy, which also gives some visual interest to the interior.
